VARIOUS BIOS FOR INTEL ATOM Z3735G 1GB RAM 16 EMMC 7 INCH WINDOWS 10 TABLET

Hello guys, today I am going to show you the progress I have made with my iball 1701 similar to Reeder W7iC also similar to PIPO W7 and also similar to Voyo A1 Mini.

Now I own the iball i701 and I have BIOS file for all the four of the tablets mentioned above.

My aim was to dual boot Windows and Android operating system on this tablet but since I only have 16GB internal storage it is not possible to dual boot Windows and Android though I can still be able to run live versions of Ubuntu.

I have tried to install Ubuntu on my tab but yes there were many things that were not working for example the touchscreen, internal WiFi Card, Bluetooth, battery detection, are some few things to be named so it is not worthy to install Ubuntu or other Linux based operating system on this tablet.

My next shot would be to install Android for this I need a BIOS which would support booting through it(ANDROID) as you can see from all about the 4 tablets only Voyo A1 mini has a dual boot bios but it also have 32GB and 2gb ram and also intel atom Z3735F(other have Z3735G) 32GB internal storage hence it can dual boot in windows as well as Android, operating systems.

I will keep you updated with what I will do to boot it with Android as well as I will also try my best to help you with problem on this tablets.

I am gonna show you how you can flash the BIOS through EFI shell, Windows operating system,
Windows recovery.

First if you want the bios files of any of the above tablet here is the LINK.
(I will upload pics if you want)

Long short story: Only reeder W7iC bios supported display, other just show white screen and do not boot into windows, so I have attached the tab to my TV through HDMI port to see things on screen. Also except Voyo A1 Mini, all other tablets have built in EFI shell.
(these methods will only work if you can boot into bios or windows recovery mode)
(these methods are universal unless stated)
(you also need a powered usb hub, pen drive(anysize, fat32 formatted), keyboard, mouse(optional) )

FLASHING BIOS IN EFI:
1)Reboot into bios, depends upon device, all the devices mentioned above can boot into BIOS by pressing ESC or DEL key.
       2) Go to save and exit tab
3) Under boot override, select BOOT FROM EFI SHELL
4)Now inside the shell you have change the directory to your pendrive, refer to this link for EFI shell commands, in my case it was fs2, so to change the directory I have to type “fs2:” (without “”)
I have kept BIOS files in root directory of pendrive,
To flash the file, type “fpt32.efi -f biosfile.bin”
(without “” and also change the name of biosfile.bin to the file you want to flash)
Now sit back, and let it do its job!!!
After completion, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

FLASHING BIOS IN WINDOWS RECOVERY:
YOU CAN FLASH BIOS THOUGH THIS OPTION ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE REQUIRED BIOS(any google drive bios file) IN INTERNAL STORAGE SUCH AS C:\\
1)Go to Troubleshoot
2)Open Command Prompt
3)Change directory to bios folder
4)Type 0_flash.bat
5)Sit back and let it do its job!!

FLASHING BIOS THROUGH WINDOWS:
FOR THIS METHOD YOU NEED TO HAVE AFUWINGUI, I HAVE INCLUDED IT IN MY DRIVE
1)Open afuwingui.exe as adminstrator
2)Backup your current rom (if you want to) click on save button.
3)AFUWINGUI can flash .bin files but it would produce an error about size, so we are not gonna use it to flash .bin file. We can only use it to flash file with .rom extension. I have provided .rom file for iball i701 only.
4) For other devices, go to the respective folder and run 0_flash.bat as administrator. It would work same as in previous method.

Please share it to needy people and also comment if you have any problem

  2. Yes you can use android on it via a bootable pendrive, but trust me it is not a viable solution, even ubuntu 16.04 sucks on this device. I think we need to wait until someone could compile drivers for this device. I have also unlock my bios, I got so many other options, like make the cpu run at its highest or boot into linux.
For now this device is perfect to be used as a windows server.
I have also made some hardware modification to my device such that use otg simultaneously or peltier cooling system without bulkiness.
I have also wrote a post about it.
    Feel free to contact me.
I may be a little late in replies since my final exams are coming.

  4. Hello Ujwal, thanks for sharing this information. I have a Winbook T700 which seems to have the same Intel Atom Z3735G board as your iBall Slide i701.

    https://www.cnx-software.com/2015/02/05/winbook-tw700-windows-8-1-mini-pc-with-micro-hdmi-full-size-usb-port-sells-for-60/

I am interested if you were able to get a 64bit UEFI bios? It seems the board supports it but the bios is locked to 32bit. I found another article where someone removed the "hard" EMMC drive and replaced it with a larger drive. In the comments he also hints that he was able to upgrade the RAM. I have mine setup with a dock with keyboard/mouse and 3 monitors. (touchscreen and 2 external monitors)

    1. Thanks for the comment, I do have the main board but it is non-functional (BIOS chip fried). IIRC 64bit bios did work on the device, but there were some issues. Regarding EMMC and RAM, yes you should be able to upgrade it if you can find a drop in replacement, but it's worth it. These Intel chips are terrible, very poor performance.
